What is hacking?

Hacking is the practice of modifying the features of a system, in order to accomplish a goal outside of the creator's original purpose. The person who is consistently engaging in hacking activities, and has accepted hacking as a lifestyle and philosophy of their choice, is called a hacker.

Computer hacking is the most popular form of hacking nowadays, especially in the field of computer security, but hacking exists in many other forms, such as phone hacking, brain hacking, etc. and it's not limited to either of them.

Due to the mass attention given to blackhat hackers from the media, the whole hacking term is often mistaken for any security related cyber crime. This damages the reputation of all hackers, and is very cruel and unfair to the law abiding ones of them, from who the term itself originated. The goal of this website is to introduce people the true philosophy and ethics of hackers, hopefully clearing their name and giving them the social status they deserve.

##Gary McKinnon .

Gary McKinnon comes first among his peer hackers. His hacking into top notch U.S. institutions was talk of legends. U.S. military, Pentagon, NASA succumbed to his hacking and reduced to sort of mockery. In 2002, an exceptionally odd message appeared on a US Army computer screen: “Your security system is crap,” it read. “I am Solo. I will continue to disrupt at the highest levels.” It was later identified as the work of Scottish systems administrator, Gary McKinnon. This made him the biggest hacker celebrity the world have ever seen and registered his name in golden words in book of hackers. McKinnon is now facing 70 years of imprisonment and is deprived from accessing internet. He has illegally accessed 97 computers and has caused around $700,000 damage to the economy.

The most shocking thing McKinnon’s motives for the large scale hackings, which he claims were in search of information on UFOs. He believed the US government was hiding such information in its military computers.

The Indian genius cum Hacker.

##Pranav Mistry.

Pranav Mistry (born in 1981 in Palanpur, India) is an Indian computer scientist. Recently he joined Samsung electronic as the Director of Research. Previously he was a research assistant and a PhD candidate at MIT Media Lab.
Before joining MIT Pranav worked as a UX Researcher with Microsoft. Pranav holds a Master's degree in Media Arts and Sciences from MIT and Master of Design from Industrial Design Center, IIT Mumbai. He has completed Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science and Engineering.He is from Palanpur, which is situated in northern Gujarat in India. Mistry is best known for his work on SixthSense.Among some of his other work, Pranav has invented Mouseless – an invisible computer mouse; SPARSH – a novel way to copy-paste data between digital devices; Quickies – intelligent sticky notes that can be searched, located and can send reminders and messages; Blinkbot - a gaze and blink controlled robot; a pen that can draw in 3D; and a public map that can act as Google of physical world. Pranav’s research interests include Augmented reality, Ubiquitous computing, Gestural interaction, AI, Machine vision, Collective intelligence and Robotics.
Pranav's research on SixthSense was awarded the 2009 Invention Award by Popular Science.He was also named to the MIT Technology Review TR35 as one of the top 35 innovators in the world under the age of 35.In 2010, he was named to Creativity Magazine's Creativity 50.Mistry has been called "one of ten, best inventors in the world right now by Chris Anderson. Mistry has been listed as one of the 15 Asian Scientists To Watch by Asian Scientist Magazine on 15 May 2011.GQ India listed Pranav as one of the most powerful Digital Indians.He was listed as one of the 37 Indians of Tomorrow by India Today. Recently, Pranav Mistry was honored as Young Global Leader 2013 by World Economic Forum.

Pranav's creation "SixthSense" is now being actively used at NASA. It is rumored that Facebook tried to acquire the technology from Pranav for a reportedly $2 billion and 5% ownership of Facebook, but Pranav decided to open source it instead.Thats what a real hacker do. Hats Off for him.
